Gyokuro

Gyokuro is a special type of green tea shaded from the sun for 20 days with specially made mats allowing the caffeine levels in the leaves to increase.  They also strengthen the amino acids, producing a sweeter and stronger flavor.  Because of this cultivation process, the leaves have an unmistakable aroma.

Since the leaves are covered for such a long time during the cultivation process, the tea leaves are dark, creating an almost mossy green dark tea.  Its richness in color translates to a richness in taste, with layers of flavors that never overpower one another.

Gyokuro tea (玉露茶) is also known as “jade dew” or “jewel dew tea.” The full-size tea comes in a high-quality, air-tight paper tube canister (chyazutsu 茶筒), ensuring maximum freshness and preserving its rich flavor.
